Our favorite ensemble reconvenes for a snazzy location shoot, (and an impromptu picnic.)
This really-really good episode helps to put an end to the myth that the Beatles were ever bigger than the Beatitudes.
Please grab your favorite snacks and enjoy Mr. Deity and the Dress Rehearsal

Congratulations on another brilliant season, guys. Brian, those glasses are money.
(Psst, Wingo: "Beetles" are bugs; the "Beatles" are rock legends.)
I've corrected the Beatles spelling... thanks dave_macd. I beseech thee to forgive my affront to the Fab Four Rock Gods... (but like Mr Deity, I blame my proof-reader.)
I was happy to see that the episode didn't end with "THE END."
My Gideon Bible (I stole it, sshhh) actually says "THE END" at the end. You see, I was under the impression that a certain someone was coming back to see us.
So, unlike my Bible, things have been left open for sequels. Thanks for another great season! Looking forward to more whenever and wherever they may be found...
"You wanna hop up on the cross?"
Will that be on a tee shirt? I've enjoyed every episode and really hope to see more of all of you whether it be in more Mr. D or not.
Preferably, more Mr. D!
OK -- one piece of brilliance here.
"El?"
So glad to see it, so sad to see it go...
Okay, so I know it's only been a couple of days, but I'm already champing at the bit for news about season 3 plans. What can I say? I'm an obsessive fan!
(Oh, and I'm so glad the season finale featured all four members of our favorite divine family.)
"blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall crap" ??? *snort*
These past few episodes have been wonderful and brilliant! I just wanted to say thanks =) I was beginning to lose faith during the long wait and honestly during the first few episodes, but thanks to Mr. D (and Larry, Jesse, and Lucy), I now fully believe!
I was especially amused with this last one since I'm currently working on a sermon on the Sermon on the Mount (I know, how cliche!), so I hope to incorporate the temptation of cupcakes with chocolate and filling in there somehow. If only I could speak in a British accent...
"I mean the kid's sweating blood for me..." Classic!
This latest episode (Dress Rehearsal) has to be the BEST ONE EVER! I really love it.
I must have more Mr. Deity already!! I neeeeeeed mooooooooore!
hey all,
we are so happy to hear the positive comments.
as for season 3, again we are "in talks" which means something i guess.
we did have fun filming this episode in 100 degree heat wearing wigs/makeup, and uncomfortable shoes!
thanks again for all of the support!
jimbo
should we start an email campaign to Sony?
should we start an email campaign to sony?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I've got quite an email list and some significant blog outreach. Just say the word, Jimbo (I'll think of you as the Metatron).
How bitter-sweet! A good episode, and now a long wait with worry...
I thought you guys scratched out Purgatory!
Brian, Jimbo, HeyZeus, and Lucy, thanks for bringing that fun bunch to life. I've shared your stories with literally a hundred people. I hope you get what you deserve out of this
mwah-haha!
Bri and Jim, thanks for hanging out with us here and giving us that personal touch.
Now comes the hard part. Waiting for more episodes! Is it too soon to start the next series speculation thread?
zinfab
So much for Lucy and the Big Guy getting cozy...
This episode also reminded me of a joke (you can Google it): why was Jesus crucified instead of stoned?
On second thought, it is kind of visual...
zinfab
thanks for the nice words we appreciate it.
i'm already worried too. brian has some fantastic ideas for season 3 that have already been sent in to the "suits"
and as far as an email campaign, since the rarely answer emails, i guess it would be a colossal waste of time....but i don't have anything better to do....
jimbo
wait, i forgot, i still have to work to feed my kids.
crap, those meddlin kids!
Just a thought I had last week: If the D loves flossing so much, why is there nothing in the Book about it? Imagine Jesse standing on that hill going "blessed are those who floss, for they shall not need to worry about Dental..."
1) Somethings just had to be cut. Kind of like quidditch getting cut from the Harry Potter movie. The D loves Kobe too, but there aren't any NBA-related prophecies.
2) It's not his book!
Season Two met and passed all my expectations. Brilliant writing, terrific acting, more laughs than ever. I can't believe the season is over already!! What do we have to do to make sure there's a season 3?
Brian Dalton is a genius...I think I'm in love.
jimbo,
how can you have kids with nothing but a pubic bone?
no, wait! don't answer that...
zinfab
zinfab
i'll have to plead the fifth.
Jimbo
C'mon Jimbo, you've got to give us something.
If Sony turns you down, they are utter FOOLS. Whenever I get depressed, all I have to do is re-watch one of the episodes. On a very bad day, it might take 2-3 episodes to cheer me up. Sooo much better than Prescription drugs, and NO side effects! Wait, I take that back. Unrestrained laughter and happiness are great side effects!!!
i say, go to crackle and ask for more deity!!!!
thanks
jimbo
How could they afford not to renew Mr. Deity? Episodes of Mr. D. have more views than any other videos on the site. They push Penn Says (which is pretty good) like it's going out of style, but even a good Penn Says only has 6,000 or 7,000 views. There are several Mr. D. episodes over half a million, including the season 1 premiere with 1.3 million, and "Mr. Deity and the Evil" from season 2 with 2.7 MILLION views. So I ask again: how could they afford not to renew such a popular show?
Sorry, I mixed up my season 1 and my season two in that post. My bad. I lose all track of time, space, and value when Mr. Deity isn't around.
no matter dav, we still love ya.
jbo
Is this blog dead?
Is the D dead for that matter? How long does He have to be dead? ("You know, I said three days in the prophecies...")
i hope it's not dead!!! i check just about every day to see if anyone's written anything.
brian's written 5 new episodes, outstanding by the way, so there will be a season 3!!!
JIMBO
Woo-hoo! We heard it here first!
Now we can begin the interminable speculation as to exactly when we'll see the start of season three...
Suggestion:
Mr. Deity and the Giant Reset Button.
HALLELUJAH! A SEASON 3!
So happy.
word of season 3?
there really IS a Deity!
Jimbo, I'm still campaigning to let you be the Holy Spirit!
zinfab
Ok, I'm dying here. Any news at all? Please?
Has the diety forsaken us?
Jimbo!? Still there? Any news?
you guys are dying? i am dying!!!
brian finished writing and we are waiting from crackle!! which of course, just sucks!
thanks for hanging in there.
jimbo
I say you guys go ahead and film it guerilla-style! leak it out to your bestest of friends, who drop by here to make sure D isn't running off to Jamaica with all the money he's made off these free videos we love.
In Jesse we thrust.
Hey guys,
Thanks for a fantastic season 2! I can hardly wait for the 3rd coming... err, season.. of the show.
By the way, Jimbo, what's up with MrDeity.com? It seems to have disappeared from the internets, with only an "Internal Server Error" when I try to connect.
Hey Jimbo,
Sorry to bug you again about mrdeity.com, but now it appears that the site has been hacked! If you type "mr deity" into Google and click on mrdeity.com in the search results, it forwards to a fake virus scanner site that tries to infect the user's computer with spyware. It only redirects when entering via search engine, so typing mrdeity.com in the address bar is safe (but still broken in its own way since your site reports "Internal Server Error").
Here's a link to someone who apparently has suffered the same hack:
groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-Indexing/browse_thread/thread/b97d055db89dc7b3/3b8aae885b06c202?lnk=raot
Anyway, I hope you guys can get this fixed soon. You'll need to change your password(s), fix any redirects the hacker added to your .htaccess file, and look for suspicious Javascript that's been injected in your page source. Also check the server for any files you didn't create yourselves, as the hacker may have placed scripts there to restore the hacks.
Most of important of all, contact your hosting provider immediately to see if they can determine how you were hacked and shut down the vulnerability. If you're on a shared server, other people's accounts may be compromised as well, leaving you open to being hacked again anytime, so make sure your hosting company takes this seriously.
Hey guys,
After days of bugging iPower, MrDeity.com's hosting provider, I finally got hold of an engineer who removed the malicious redirect. The site is back.
Looks like the "jerks" that hacked the site are now on the message board. Smite them oh mighty smiter! (That would be you, Larry, as the only links the "boss" is interested in have 18 holes on them.)
This just popped into my reader. Tubefilter covered Mr. Deity:
http://news.tubefilter.tv/2008/08/11/mr-deity-may-be-heading-to-tv-but-converts-still-flocking-online/
Hey! New article about the show: http://news.tubefilter.tv/2008/08/11/mr-deity-may-be-heading-to-tv-but-converts-still-flocking-online/
Well that article was certainly a breath of fresh air.
News Damn it! News!
You want news? I'll give you some dang news!
I just sent Mr. Dalton an email asking him how things were going, and he told me they were actually doing some CASTING! He tells me that several new characters are introduced this season, including Adam, John the Baptist, and Death. I also asked him about the HBO rumor that TubeFilter reported. He said that he's hoping Sony will help them get some good actors for these new roles and also help with some Deity-worthy PR, which he hopes could get HBO's attention. Thus endeth the news.
Amen.
(You're welcome.)
seems like this news deserves a new blog entry of its own.
Tell Wingo.
http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/09/poised_to_leap_10_web_video_cr.php
TV Week lists Brian Dalton as one of the top 10 online content producers. Also on the list are Felicia Day of "The Guild" and Joss Whedon of "Dr. Horrible," so I'd say Mr. Deity is in pretty good company here.
I don't miss twice. Mr. Deity is dead.
*kicks the crowd*
Ok, time for some deity update!
You could always email Brian. I feel bad about doing it too much, but you could always just send him a thoughtful and polite email. He's usually pretty forthright.
Mr. Deity must truly be gone. It was great while it lasted.
No, it really isn't gone. It just takes time and money to create such a polished product. Mr. Deity doesn't make enough money to support these people, so they all have real jobs. Also, now they have to work on Sony/Crackle's schedule. Our patience will be rewarded.
Okay, so this isn't technically a Mr. Deity thing, but check this out!

A new web series called Words, from the creators of Mr. Deity! Anyone else excited?
NEW MR. DEITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(sort of)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRCw-Hfnpxo
Fantastic! Any chance of "Words" being made available in podcast form?
Where is Episode 2 of Words??
Jimbo thought it would be on YT yesterday. I'm just so happy knowing we'll be seeing more stuff from Brian & the rest of his gang!
Can I ask again where is episode #2 of Words? I'm dying to know what happens next and it's been like 3 weeks now. And not a a word from Brian or Jimbo. I can't stand the wait...
