Congrats Mr Deity Crew - A Major Feat!

Photo: Luis Sinco, LA Times
Holy Sony Pictures! Do you hear that Crackle? See LA Times article. (more later...)
...OK, I'm back. Ew sorry, I forgot one has to register with the LA Times to read the article. (Hey, It's Monday.) I recommend taking a moment to register at the LA Times, a great paper, but here's the scoop: You know how we first saw Mr Deity on YouTube, and then also on Grouper? Well, Sony bought Grouper and is totally revamping the service. It will be exclusively handling quality new talent in the video realm and is now known as "Crackle". New episodes of Mr Deity are being produced exclusively for Sony Pictures / Crackle. If you read the entire, interesting article, you will also note that Brian ("Mr. Deity") Dalton has also been in discussion with some "big name company" about... wait for it... (and note how this blogs' trend-surfing readers keep scooping me), ... a possible future Mr. Deity feature film. In the meantime look for the next Mr. Deity episode on Crackle.com !

Awesome congrats to those guys.

The comment about the feature film was taken a little out of context. Yes, we have talked to a big company about this possibility. But right now, the effort is to build up the sho online and move it to TV. We do have a great idea for a feature though. So, hopefully we'll get to do that too. Thanks again to everyone for all the support.

Merchandise? Cash whores! Just kidding, I'll probably get suckered into buying something. Besides, Jesse action figures are already going on sale in WalMart http://www.local6.com/news/13686443/detail.html

Totally gonna buy one and outfit it with a bong...

Merchandising, merchandising, merchandising. Mr. Deity: the t-shirt, Mr. Deity: the lunchbox, Mr. Deity: the action figure, Mr. Deity: the flamethrower...

A Jesus action figure?!
So when the kiddies get bored with that what'll happen? hmmm?

Ew!, how about "Mr. Deity" prayer rugs, with the funniest quotes from the series imprinted on them, like "Obviously that's the down-side." ...also a sewn-in compass to help us bow and pray towards Southern California. (Or maybe these days that should be a GPS system?)

I think commenter jpb must be making a reference to the recent free-speech-chilling, touchy-religio-reacting Supreme Court decision regarding the banner proclaiming "bong-hits for Jesus". Yep....or as we Mainer's say with a wink and a sigh: "Ayuh"

Anybody know what this means for "15 Minutes Later"?

How about distribution? I assume they won't be using YouTube anymore, but what about the podcast feed?

Anonymous said...

Oh I DO hope they'll also keep up with the Podcast or at least youtube...

It'll take forever to come to German television. If ever.

I'm really glad for the team that it seems to be wortking out this well, even though it's not a surprise, really. Mr. Deity is one of the funniest shows I've seen so far.

Just don't forget your devoted views abroad!
