I...Keep up the brilliant work Mr Deity and cast!!!

I think anyone objecting to the Eve episode should lighten up please and keep in mind, this is intelligent comedy, it assumes a level of understanding of double irony on the part of the viewer. OF COURSE most women don't act like that, it is taken for granted that there is a shared understanding about this.

Some attitudes of some women are exaggerated here for comic effect as are attitudes of men - hence THE COMEDY.

To me the MEN were the butt of the joke here more than the woman. The woman's interest in clothing was exaggerated so that the MEN in the sketch could display how totally clueless and insensitive men actually can be!

However there is some truth in how the women are depicted. Many women are obsessed by outward appearance, all you have to do is look at the size of the fashion industry or the content of any of the main women's magazines. I don't think there's anything wrong with parodying this to comic effect any more than there is anything wrong with parodying male insensitivity or male machismo.

It could be argued that as machismo is a manifestation of male gender insecurity, many women are overly concerned with clothing and outward appearance as an expression of their gender insecurity.

We all have our silly ways lets face it, but lets not take ourselves so seriously that we can't laugh at ourselves!Antiphoneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01197189365192939882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6911035947846089283.post-87230629302746009142009-12-18T23:38:50.090+00:002009-12-18T23:38:50.090+00:00I didn't find "Mr. D and the Woman" ...I didn't find "Mr. D and the Woman" particularly funny, more of a lost opportunity than anything, but Brian's apology at the end of "... the Wrong Number" was the funniest thing they've ever done. If they told me they bobbled "...Woman" on purpose just to provide a straight-line for that speech, I'd believe it, it's so perfect.

I love Brian and Amy and Jimbo so much-- it makes me happy just to know that they live in the same end of the same state as me.Eufemianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6911035947846089283.post-50712236199210699082009-12-17T17:42:14.360+00:002009-12-17T17:42:14.360+00:00And in the just-posted Mr. Deity and the Wrong Num...And in the just-posted Mr. Deity and the Wrong Number, Brian, in the post-episode "apology" show what is, perhaps, his best work evah!

Man this stuff is great!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05907642747399868231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6911035947846089283.post-59632974438741944982009-12-17T15:27:09.874+00:002009-12-17T15:27:09.874+00:00I think it's (sadly) funny that Mr. D is getti...I think it's (sadly) funny that Mr. D is getting this much grief over a comedy routine! I've got a regular monthly subscription to the show, but just to let B&Co. know that not everyone thinks the show wasn't funny, I went and gave them an extra Festivus present via the donate button. ;)

Some people are just so unidirectionally thin-skinned. I actually thought this was one of his funnier shows, even if it was kind of a dated stereotype to poke fun at!

Anywho, Happy Newhanukawanzamas!Alphamanhttp://aaron.isa-geek.org/pivot/index.phpnoreply@blogger.com
